Seventy-eight years ago today, on January 14, 1947 (December 23, 1946 in the lunar calendar), Japanese writer Eiko Green River passed away. Eiko Green River was born on March 7, 1912, in a Japanese engineer family, formerly known as Teriko Hasegawa. "Eiko Green River" is her name in Esperanto, which means "green May". In January 1937, Liu Ren returned to China. In April, at the age of 25, Eiko broke through the resistance of her family and followed her husband to the battlefield of resistance against Japan in China. Witnessing the "August 13" massacre committed by the Japanese army, Eiko wrote articles such as "Love and Hate" and "China's Victory is the Key to All Asia's Tomorrow (Letter to Japanese Esperanto) ". In "Love and Hate" she wrote: "I hate, I do my best to hate the kind of massacre that is being carried out between the two peoples. My heart cries: For the sake of the two peoples, stop the war!" In July 1938, she worked as a Japanese-language broadcaster at the International Propaganda Office of the Central Propaganda Department of the Kuomintang. On January 14, 1947, at the age of 35, Eiko Green Chuan died of a surgical infection in Jiamusi City, Heilongjiang Province. On April 22 of the same year, her husband Liu Ren died.
