Pope Pius V was born

Pius V
On January 17, 1504, Pope Pius V was born. Pope St. Pius V (January 17, 1504-May 21, 1572) was an Italian Pope (reigned 1566 - 1572). Originally known as Antonio Ghislieri, he was appointed Chief Justice of the Inquisition of the Roman Church in 1558.
During his successor to Pope Pius IV, he remained as Chancellor of the Inquisition. At the age of 14, Dominica became a monk and later taught as a judge. Noted for being harsh on heresy; dismissed from office after arguing with the diocese bishop. Carafa, the Roman Inquisition, appreciated him and sent him to Lombardy on a mission. In 1551 he was appointed acting justice of the Roman Inquisition. Carafa was later elected Pope (known as Paul IV), and in 1556 he was appointed bishop of Nebo and Sutri. He was promoted to cardinal in 1557.
In December 1565, King Pius IV passed away, and Qilanli was elected Pope, taking the name of "King Pius V." His basic policy plan is to implement the resolutions of the Triton Conference. At the Pope's coronation ceremony, all of the gifts sent by all parties were allocated to hospital funds and relief to the poor.
After Pius V took office, he used a drastic spirit to eliminate various accumulated shortcomings in the church. The first encyclical was to order clergy at all levels to stay in the district and not to leave their posts without permission. In addition to strictly maintaining church discipline, special attention is paid to the moral life of ordinary church members. During the Roman famine, Pius V distributed large quantities of grain shipped from France and Sicily to the poor free of charge.
The liturgy of the Mass, later known as the Traditional Latin Mass, was standardized by Pius V in 1570 and remained in use for 400 years until 1970, when it was revised by Pope Paul VI. In addition, the most complete Aquinas' opera omnia was published by Pius V.
While Pius V attached great importance to church discipline, he also set an example and practiced hard work. Even when you are old and sick, you still keep strict fasting during the annual fasting period and during the upcoming pre-sessional period. He prayed diligently and met with God day and night. People say that he responded to every request before God's presence. Since the days of monks, they have practiced hard work hard and cared for the elderly, weak, lonely and widowed as their own children.
In addition to implementing various reforms, Pius V devoted all his energy to addressing two major problems. First, the Protestant power is growing day by day, and second, the Turks are eager to sweep across the European continent in the east.
Pius V's policy towards infidels was to show both kindness and power, and to provide mutual assistance with leniency. In addition to strengthening the investigation of heresy, various propaganda methods are also used to introduce Catholic doctrine to pagans. The "Compendium of Principles" launched by the Toliten Conference was drafted during the term of Pius V, put to press and published, and translated into various languages. In addition, King Pius V also stipulated that children should be explained to them, and adults should be fully prepared before washing them, and should not act hastily.
The Allied armies of Europe crushed the Ottoman navy in the Mediterranean Sea, crushing their attack. This battle had a great impact on the future of the Church throughout the European continent. From the moment the Allied armies embarked on their journey, Pius V kept chanting and praying, and ordered the faithful everywhere to hold various public and private salutes, asking for the protection of the Lord. On October 7, 1571, when the war reached its most intense stage, the faithful of Rome marched out of the Minerva Church, chanted the Rosary, and called on the Virgin Mary for help. It is said that at that time, Pius V, who was in a meeting with the cardinals, suddenly stood up and pushed open the window and looked into the distance, without moving his eyes. After a while, he turned to the cardinals and said, "Let us all thank God! God has blessed our army with an unprecedented victory. 'In order to commemorate this time, the Holy Church, through the efficacy of the Rosary and the strong assistance of the Virgin Mary, turned defeat into victory and turned the crisis around, Pius V specially ordered that the prayer "Blessing of Christianity" be included in the Virgin's Prayer, and October 7 was designated as the Feast of the Virgin Rose.
Pius V died on May 1, 1572. His successor was Gregory XIII (1572-1585). In 1696, Pius began the process of canonization with the efforts of Antonin Cloche, the head of the Paladin Order. He immediately appointed the sculptor Pierre Le Gros to build a tomb in the Sistine Cathedral. The body of the Pope was laid in a coffin in 1698. St. Pius V was declared "Blessed Taste" by Pope Clement X in 1672, and Pope Clement XI (1700-1721) was canonized on May 24, 1712.
