82 years ago today, on February 20, 1943 (January 16, 1943 in the lunar calendar), Mount Parikutine in Mexico erupted. Parikutine is a volcano in the western state of Michoacán, Mexico, located 32 kilometers west of Uluapan. On February 20, 1943, a large eruption occurred. The ash, lava burned and covered two villages and hundreds of houses. In the first year, the volcanic cone rose 450 meters from the ground at an altitude of 2,280 meters. At the end of the volcanic eruption in 1952, the peak was as high as 2,808 meters.
