On January 5, 2003 (December 3, 2002 in the lunar calendar), Shenzhou IV spacecraft successfully returned. At 19:16 on January 5, 2003, Shenzhou IV landed accurately in central Inner Mongolia after completing its scheduled space science and technology experiment mission. So far, the fourth flight test of China's manned space project has been a complete success. On the evening of May 5, when the Shenzhou IV spacecraft circled the earth 107 times and flew over the South Atlantic Ocean, the "Yuanwang III" space survey ship on standby there issued a return order to it. The spacecraft immediately established a return attitude, separated the return module from the orbital module, ignited the brake engine, and began to return from space to the earth's surface. After the spacecraft entered the atmosphere 80 kilometers above the ground, it flew at a high speed of about 8 kilometers per second. It rubbed violently with the atmosphere. A plasma layer was generated on the surface of the re-entry capsule, forming an electromagnetic shield and temporarily disconnected from the ground. As soon as the spacecraft flew out of the "black zone", the landing station of the Xi'an Satellite Monitoring and Control Center, which was responsible for the spacecraft recovery mission, discovered the target in time. After that, according to predetermined procedures, the spacecraft landed smoothly in the spacecraft landing site in central Inner Mongolia, and search and rescue personnel recovered the spacecraft's return capsule. The "Shenzhou"-4 spacecraft was launched into space at the Jiuquan Manned Space Launch Site in the early morning of December 30, 2002. It flew in space for 6 days and 18 hours as scheduled, orbiting the earth 108 times. The re-entry capsule will be transported back to Beijing, where scientific researchers will conduct technical analysis and scientific research on the spacecraft and test projects. The spacecraft's orbital module continues to operate in orbit and conducts relevant space science and application tests. The successful launch and return of the "Shenzhou"-4 spacecraft shows that my country's manned space engineering technology is becoming increasingly mature and laying a solid foundation for the ultimate realization of manned flight.
