April 23, 1891 The birth of Soviet composer Prokofiyev
On this day, 134 years ago, April 23, 1891 (March 15, 1891, the lunar calendar), the Soviet composer Prokofiyev was born. Prokofiyev was born on April 23, 1891. His father was an agronomist and his mother was a pianist and his first teacher. He started composing music at the age of 5, and his mother recorded the music, and later tried to write opera. In 1904, he entered the St. Petersburg Conservatory of Music and studied under Kosakov and others. In 1914, he graduated with the Rubinstein Prize for performing his own work. Later, he met Jakilyev, manager of the ballet troupe, and had a relationship with him for 15 years and was deeply influenced by him. His works are realistic and epic, and further combine traditional tonality and melody techniques with 20th century music, with 135 works. They mainly include "Violin Concerto No. 2 in G Minor"(1935), ballet "Romeo and Juliet"(1935-1936), symphonic fairy tale "Peter and the Wolf"(1936), opera "War and Peace"(1941-1952), ballet "Treasure Flower"(1948-1950), etc. In 1957, he was posthumously awarded the highest Lenin Prize for "Symphony No. 7 in C sharp minor"(1951-1952). But he couldn't see. He passed away on March 5, 1953.
