On this day, 132 years ago, on February 2, 1893 (December 16, 1892 in the lunar calendar), Sun Lianzhong, a famous anti-Japanese general, was born. Sun Lianzhong was born in Xiong County (Wayaoguan), Hebei Province. Sun Lianzhong (1893.2.2-1990.8.14), a general of the Northwest Army, was born in Xiong County, Hebei Province. He joined the Second Town of the Beiyang Army in 1912 and was later incorporated into Feng Yuxiang's Department, where he was promoted from soldier to commander. In 1928, he served as commander-in-chief of the 2nd Front Army of the Second Group Army. In September, he served as chairman of the Qinghai Province government and acted as chairman of the Gansu Province government the following year. After the Chiang Feng-Yan War in 1930, his troops were incorporated into the 26th Route Army by Chiang Kai-shek and served as commander-in-chief. The following year, he was transferred to Jiangxi to "encircle and suppress" the Central Revolutionary Base Area and participated in the second to fifth "encirclement and suppression" campaigns. In 1936, he was added to the rank of general by Lieutenant General of the Army. After the outbreak of the Lugouqiao Anti-Japanese War on July 7 in 1937, he served as deputy commander-in-chief of the 2nd Group Army and commander of the 1st Corps, fighting against the Japanese army in Liangxiang (now Beijing) and Zhuoxian (now Zhuozhou), Hebei Province. In September, he was promoted to commander-in-chief of the 2nd Group Army and transferred Niangziguan to participate in the Battle of Taiyuan. In March 1938, during the Battle of Xuzhou, he led the 2nd Group Army to hold on to Taierzhuang. He fought hard for ten days and won a great victory in Taierzhuang, with outstanding military achievements. After participating in the Wuhan Defense War, he served as commander-in-chief of the 3rd Corps. Since 1939, he has served successively as deputy commanders of the 1st, 5th and 6th theaters. In 1943, he served as acting commander of the Sixth Theater Area. In November, he commanded 12 armies to bravely resist the Japanese invaders in the Changde area (see Battle of Changde). In 1945, he served as Commander of the 11th Theater and Chairman of the Hebei Province Government. In 1947, he was transferred to the post of director of the Baoding Suiju Office and chairman of the Hebei Province Government. In December, he was transferred to the post of commander-in-chief of the capital garrison. The following year, he was appointed chief of the Army at the Presidential Office. He went to Taiwan in 1949 and served successively as strategic adviser to the Strategic Advisory Committee and national policy adviser to the "Presidential Office".
