833 years ago today, on April 24, 1192 (March 11, 1192, the 1192 lunar calendar), Lugou Bridge was completed. On April 24, 1192, the famous Lugou Bridge was completed on the Yongding River in the southwest of Beijing. It was built in 1189 and is 266.5 meters long and 7.5 meters wide. The bridge deck is paved with stone slabs and consists of 11-hole stone arches at the bottom. There are stone guardrails on both sides of the bridge body, each with 140 observation columns, and 485 stone lions of different shapes are engraved on the capitals. It was completed on April 24, 1192 (March 11, the third year of Jin Mingchang). The bridge was originally named "Guangli", but was renamed Lugou Bridge because it spanned the Lugou River (i.e. Yongding River). It was destroyed by floods and was rebuilt in the early Qing Dynasty (1698). Next to the bridge is the "Lugou Xiaoyue" stele pavilion engraved by Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty, becoming one of the "Eight Scenes of Yanjing". The July 7th Incident occurred here in 1937. The China defenders rose to resist and the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression began. On July 7, 1987, the China People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression Memorial Hall was built on the west side of Lugou Bridge. Lugou Bridge is a national key cultural relic protection unit. Lugou Bridge in the 1930s News raw data sources → https://www.abtool.cn/today_detail/1dn5.html 17WorldNews[2025.09.28-06:52] 访问:76
