On this day 46 years ago, on May 10, 1979 (April 15, 1979 lunar calendar), a memorial service for the famous film artist Shu Xiuwen was held. On March 17, 1969, Shu Xiuwen, a famous film performance artist in our country and an actress of the Beijing People's Art Theater, died unfortunately due to the torture and persecution of Lin Biao and the "Gang of Four". However, a meeting to mourn her was held on May 10, 1979 in the auditorium of the Babaoshan Revolutionary Cemetery in Beijing. Shu Xiuwen was born in Anqing, Anhui in 1915. When she was young, she participated in groups such as "Mayflower Drama Club", "Spring and Autumn Drama Club", and "Shanghai Amateur Players Association", and dedicated herself to the cause of progressive drama. In 1941, Comrade Shu Xiuwen joined the "Chinese Drama and Art Society" to publicize the unity of the Anti-Japanese War, and successively participated in the performances of "The Flower of Tangdi" and "Spring and Autumn in Heaven". After the victory of the Anti-Japanese War, she participated in the shooting of the excellent film "A River of Spring Flows Eastward". After the liberation of the whole country, she threw herself into the film and drama career of New China with even more enthusiasm. In April 1958, Shu Xiuwen joined the Communist Party of China. Shu Xiuwen takes artistic work seriously, meticulously, and strives for excellence. Her acting style is real and delicate, with a distinct original spirit. She takes the initiative and enthusiasm to cultivate young actors and young directors. Shu Xiuwen has made important contributions to the development of drama and film in our country. She has been elected as a member of the Second National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, a representative of the Second and Third National People's Congress, a member of the Executive Committee of the Third All-China Women's Federation, a standing director of the China Drama Association and the Film Association, and a national member of the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles.
