Breaking-News >> TodayHistory On April 11, 1935, the United States was devastated by a dust storm
On this day, 90 years ago, April 11, 1935 (March 9, 1935 in the lunar calendar), the United States was attacked by dust storms. Huge dust clouds shrouded the land of the impoverished ridge of the Texas Panhandle On April 11, 1935, an increasingly serious dust storm swept across most of the United States like a black whip, destroying millions of dollars worth of wheat fields and causing countless farmers to leave their homes as if they were fleeing the plague. In some areas, all activities have stopped. The main areas hit by dust storms today are western Kansas, western Colorado, Wyoming, western Oklahoma, most of Texas and most of New Mexico. Breathing in those places is not only difficult, but also dangerous. Humans can protect themselves with various masks, but livestock suffer. The number of children suffering from pneumoconiosis has increased sharply. In what is known as the "granary of the country", the extent of damage to crops has been shocking. Things don't seem to get any better. Dust piled up in homes and schools, traffic was disrupted, shops were closed, and families who had lost loved ones were unable to bury the bodies of the dead. In Texas, even birds dare not leave their nests. Sandstorms have bankrupted farmers, leaving many farmers 'families homeless. An Oklahoma family of six has almost nothing.
