He served as a member of the Standing Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference of Zhejiang Province and a director of the Chinese Writers Association. Mr. Xia Chengtao, who is known as the "master of ci studies", specializes in ci studies around the age of 30, and has played a significant role in the development of ci studies in our country. On the one hand, he inherited the strengths of Ci studies in the past dynasties, and on the other hand, he made many pioneering and innovative efforts in traditional Ci studies. He studied the word body, word music, word rhythm and word history with a realistic attitude, which greatly expanded the field of Ci studies and made outstanding contributions to the scientific, systematic and theoretical track of Ci studies. Among the nearly 10 million-word works that embody Mr. Xia Chengtao's lifelong efforts, there are nearly 30 published Ci monographs, more than 100 uncollected papers, and there are still many kinds of works to be published. Among them, "Chronology of Ci People in Tang and Song Dynasties", "A Series of Ci in Tang and Song Dynasties", "Chronicle of Jiang Baishi Ci", etc., are all rare masterpieces since Ci Studies. He also created a large number of poems, which are represented as "Xia Chengtao's Poetry Collection" and "Tianfeng Pavilion's Poetry Collection", and wrote the unique "Tianfeng Pavilion's Poetry Diary". Mr. Xia Chengtao's academic achievements have also been highly praised internationally.
