On this day 45 years ago, on March 7, 1980 (January 21, 1980 lunar calendar), Fei Xiaotong received the Marinowski Honorary Award. Professor Fei Xiaotong was born in Wujiang City, Jiangsu Province on November 2, 1910. He graduated from Yenching University in 1933 with a bachelor's degree in sociology; graduated from the Graduate School of Tsinghua University in 1935; and received a Doctor of Philosophy from the University of London in 1938. He used to be the director of the Research Office of Sociology in Yenching, Yunnan University, a professor of sociology at Tsinghua University, a vice president of the Central Academy for Nationalities, a member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, a director of the Institute of Sociology of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, a director of the Institute of Sociological Anthropology of Peking University, a president of the Chinese Sociological Society, a chairperson of the China Democratic League, a vice chairperson of the Chinese People's In 1980, he was awarded the Malinowski Honorary Award of the International Society of Applied Anthropology and became a member of the society.
