Eugène Edine Pottier (October 4, 1816-November 6, 1887) was a French poet and political activist. Progressive activities during the Second Empire, criticizing the imperial government with poetry; joined the Paris branch of the First International in 1865. After the fall of the Second Empire, he put forward the slogan "Establish a Red Commune" in his poem "October 31, 1870". During the Paris Commune in 1871, Baudier served as a member of the Commune and a member of the Commune's Social Services Committee, fighting to defend the Commune until the last day of the "Blood Week" in May. In June of the same year, he wrote "The Song of the World's Proletarians"-"The Internationale", which artistically summarized the principles of Marxist revolution and the historical experience of the Paris Commune. In July, he was forced to flee and lived in exile in Britain and the United States for nearly 10 years.; After an amnesty in 1880, he returned to China and joined the French Socialist Workers 'Party. During his exile and after returning to China, while actively engaging in the workers 'movement, he created "White Terror","American Workers to French Workers", and "Paris Commune" with the central themes of commemorating the commune, exposing the capitalist system, and reflecting the suffering and struggle of the proletariat. During his lifetime, he also published various poetry collections such as "The Young God of Poetry"(1831),"Collection of Social Economic Poems and Socialist Revolutionary Songs"(1884), and "Collection of Revolutionary Songs". Lenin called Baudier "one of the greatest propagandists who used poetry as a tool." He died in 1887.
