On this day 109 years ago, on January 15, 1916 (December 11, 1915 in the lunar calendar), starving people made a fuss in Shanghai. Hungry people collectively went to the front of big houses to ask for grain. On January 15, 1916, the starving people in Nanhui County, Shanghai opposed the payment of the price of Tuntian and Qingzhang Shatian. Today, hundreds of people demanded money and rice from rich families in the Yujie Bridge area, and gathered to discuss the uprising. The next day, hundreds of hungry people went to Zhangjiangzha to ask for money and rice, demanding that Tuntian and Qingzhang be suspended.
