On February 23, 1903, the Czechoslovak national hero Vucik was born
On this day, 122 years ago, February 23, 1903 (January 26, 1903 in the lunar calendar), the Czech national hero of Slovakia, was born. The cover of the book "Report Under the Gallows""People, I Love You! You must be vigilant!" This is the conclusion of the book "Report Under the Gallows" written by Julius Fuccik, an outstanding communist fighter, national hero, revolutionary journalist, writer, and literary and drama critic of Slovakia. It is also a precious motto he left to future generations. It fully demonstrated Fucek's deep love for the people and his deep-seated hatred for the enemy. On February 23, 1903, Fucek was born into a worker's family in the industrial area of Prague. He has loved drama since he was a child. He began to engage in literary creation when he was in middle school. Later, he entered the School of Arts of the University of Prague to study literature. Due to his poor family, he studied while giving tutoring, and also worked as a worker on a construction site. In college, he studied Marxist works assiduously. In his youth, Fucek was clear between right and wrong. He loved workers and other working people and hated the reactionary and greedy bourgeoisie. In May 1921, the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia and Slovakia had just been established, and the 18-year-old Fuccik joined the party team. He has been engaged in journalism for a long time. He has served as editor of the Red Rights newspaper, the central organ of the Czech Communist Party of China, a reporter of the newspaper in the Soviet Union, and editor-in-chief of the party's cultural publication "Creation". In 1929, when he participated in the general strike of coal miners in the North Czech Republic, he wrote an article profoundly exposing and accusing capitalism of bringing unemployment, poverty and death to workers. He used newspapers and periodicals as a weapon for the working class's struggle to realize socialism. After Hitler's Germany annexed Czech Slovakia, Fucczyk engaged in underground activities in Prague and other places to resist Nazi occupation. At the beginning of 1941, the first underground Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Czech Republic was destroyed by the enemy. He participated in the establishment of the second underground Central Committee and led the people's anti-occupation struggle, and carried out unremitting struggle to liberate his motherland from the iron feet of German fascism. Later, Füczyk was unfortunately arrested by the German Gestapo. In prison, he wrote the immortal book "Report Under the Gallows" under the threat of being killed at any time. The entire book is upright and glorious. Fushk's fearless heroic spirit of daring to despise violent enemies and fighting tenaciously, his self-sacrifice spirit of going through fire and water in order to safeguard the interests of the people and protect the safety of organizations and homosexuals, and his belief that the enemy will eventually be destroyed and the final victory will belong to the people. The spirit of revolutionary optimism is fully reflected in the book. This work was later translated into more than 80 languages and distributed in many countries, becoming the common spiritual wealth of progressive people around the world. The Chinese translation of this book was published in my country as early as the early 1950s. For many years, it has been widely circulated among young people in my country and has had a huge impact. Fucek suffered various inhuman torture in prison, but he remained unyielding. On September 8, 1943, with a firm belief in communism, he sang "The Internationale" and died heroically. He was only 40 years old when he died. As a true Communist and a great patriot, Fuccik's glorious image will always live in the hearts of revolutionary people and progressive people. Cell No. 267 described in "Report Under the Gallows"
