After the founding of New China, he successively served as Deputy Secretary-General of the Administrative Affairs Council of the Central People's Government, Standing Member of the National People's Congress, Standing Member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, Vice Chairperson of the All-China Women's Federation, Vice Chairperson of the Democracy Promotion Association, and member of the Presidium of the National Federation of Literary and Art Circles. He joined the Communist Party of China in 1960. He died of illness in Beijing on March 3, 1968.
