On January 23, 2004 (January 2, 2004 in the lunar calendar), China announced the first confirmed case of highly pathogenic avian influenza epidemic. On January 23, 2004, a large-scale death epidemic occurred in poultry at Dingdang Individual Duck Farm in Long'an County, Guangxi. The epidemic was confirmed as H5N1 subtype highly pathogenic avian influenza by the National Avian Influenza Reference Laboratory. This is the first confirmed case of highly pathogenic avian influenza epidemic in China. This is February 18, 2004. The epidemic prevention personnel of the epidemic prevention department of Long'an County, Guangxi are at the intersection of the animal epidemic prevention blockade area in Dingdang Town, the first highly pathogenic avian influenza occurrence point in our country.
