On this day, 88 years ago, on March 12, 1937 (January 30, 1937, the lunar calendar), Chen Renren, one of the early leaders of the Communist Party of China, passed away. Chen Weiren was born in Jianghua County, Hunan Province in September 1899. He entered the Third Normal School of Hengyang Province, Hunan Province to study in 1918. He went to the Soviet Union to study in the winter of 1920. He was transferred back to China in the winter of 1921 and joined the Communist Party of China. He was sent to work in the Beijing Railway Trade Union and served as secretary of the Northern Workers 'Movement Committee of the Communist Party of China. He recruited party members among railway workers and established party organizations. In July 1922, he was elected as the second representative of the Party. In September of the same year, Feng Li Dazhao was dispatched to Jinan to assist Wang Jinmei, Deng Enming and others in developing the Shandong Party organization. In March 1923, he was dispatched by Li Dazhao to Harbin to carry out the work of party building and league building. In June of the same year, he went to Guangzhou to attend the Third National Congress of the Communist Party of China. In January 1924, Chen Weren was transferred to the Executive Committee of the Shanghai District Committee of the Communist Party of China to engage in the workers 'movement. In December of the same year, he was transferred to Beijing to serve as the Organization Minister of the Executive Committee of the Northern District Committee of the Communist Party of China and Secretary of the Staff Committee. In May 1927, Chen Weiren attended the Fifth National Congress of the Communist Party of China. In December 1928 and the spring of 1931, Chen Weiren was arrested and imprisoned twice in Shenyang and Shanghai. He was loyal and unyielding in prison, adhered to the party's secrets, organized party branches in prison, and led comrades in prison to persist in the struggle. He was rescued and released from prison by party organizations. In the second half of 1932, under the extremely serious situation of white terror, the leading organs of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China had to move from Shanghai to the Central Soviet Area. Chen Weiren and his wife Han Huiying (the Party's underground traffic officer) were sent by the Party Central Committee to stay in Shanghai to be responsible for the management of the Central Library. On March 12, 1937, Chen Ren died of illness in Shanghai at the age of 38. In 1945, the Seventh National Congress of the Communist Party of China ratified Chen Ren as a revolutionary martyr.
