Breaking-News >> TodayHistory France announced the hosting of the first Tour de France
In 1902, De Grange, editor-in-chief of the French newspaper Le Automobile, received an order from his boss De Dion to organize a competition-the Paris Bicycle Race for publicity purposes and in order to compete with another newspaper, Le Bicyclist. Later, at the suggestion of his good friend, he announced in the newspaper on January 19, 1903 that the world's largest bicycle race-the Tour de France-would be held on July 1. In Paris, the starting point of the competition, the competition has a total length of 2397 kilometers (also 2428 kilometers) and is divided into 6 stages with 60 players participating. Finally, Maurice Garin of France won the championship on July 19. It has been held annually since then (forced to be suspended due to two world wars between 1915 and 1940 and 1946) Keywords: January 19, 1903, Tour de France, bicycle race, France News raw data sources → https://today.help.bj.cn/show/?id=1308 17WorldNews[2025.09.28-06:48] 访问:77
