On January 16, 1888, Faure's "Requiem" premiered at the Church of Madeleine in Paris. Faure Gabriel (1845 - 1924) was a famous French composer and organist. In the history of French music, Faure was a bridge spanning the 19th and 20th centuries. Due to Faure's role in the 19th century in French art songs and even the development of European art songs, he was praised by later generations as the "Schumann of France".

He gained high public recognition during his lifetime and was elected a member of the French Academy in 1909.

It can be said that he was a leading authority in the French music industry at that time, and was also the main representative figure who coexisted with Impressionist music at that time while maintaining the characteristics of traditional French music.

In 1885 and 1887, after the death of his parents, Faure began to compose a Requiem. Compared with other requiems, this work is fresh and elegant in orchestration, pure and lyrical, and even avoids the use of any drums, which is very much a relic of ancient music. Instead of using the traditional Requiem "The Day of Wrath" (depicting the scene of the end of the day), this work uses the more lyrical "In Pardisum," which is also one of the most famous movements of the work.
