On January 17, 1927, the founder of the Girl Scouts of the United States, Mrs. Juliet Love, died in Savannah, Georgia, at the age of 67. In 1911, Mrs. Love consulted with the founder of the "British Girl Scouts", Ms. Baden-Powell. In the second year, Mrs. Love recruited 18 girls to form Girl Scouts. By 1927, the number of Girl Scouts in the United States had grown to 167,925. Mrs. Love was miserable due to her unhappy marriage, so she encouraged girls to have talent.
