243 years ago today, on March 12, 1782 (January 29, 1782 lunar calendar), "Siku Quanshu" was compiled. "Siku Quanshu" was compiled by the official during the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty, Yongyong led the compilation, and Ji Gou served as the chief organ. In 1773 (the 38th year of Qianlong), the Siku Library was opened, and the total number of members of the Siku Library reached 4,186. After 10 years, the books compiled were arranged according to the four parts of scriptures, history, children, and collections, with a total of 3,457 kinds of books and 79,070 volumes (Wenjin Pavilion had a total of 3,503 kinds of books, 79,337 volumes, and 36,304 volumes; there are also records of 3,461 kinds of books and 79,309 volumes); there are also 6,766 kinds of books and 93,556 volumes. The first "Siku Quanshu" was written and completed on March 12, 1782 (the 29th day of the first month of Qianlong's forty-seventh year). After that, six more books were written and stored in Wenyuan Pavilion in the Forbidden City, Wenyuan Pavilion in Yuanmingyuan Garden, Wenyuan Pavilion in Shengjing, Wenjin Pavilion in Summer Resort, Wenzong Pavilion in Zhenjiang, Wenhui Pavilion in Yangzhou, and Wenlan Pavilion in Hangzhou, and one copy was hidden in the Hanlin Academy in Beijing. The whole book is large and rich, and it is a collection of ancient Chinese political, ideological and cultural heritage. However, during the compilation process, the content of many books was deleted and altered according to the needs of the ruling class, and nearly 3,000 kinds of "rebellious" and "illegal" books were banned and destroyed, with more than 60,000 or 70,000 volumes.
