On this day, 65 years ago, on January 1, 1960 (December 3, 1959, the Liujiaxia Water Conservancy Project was successfully intercepted. Liujiaxia is located in Yongjing County, Gansu Province. On January 1, 1960, the Liujiaxia Water Conservancy Project of the Yellow River was successfully intercepted (located 100 kilometers upstream of Lan 'Zhou City). After the dam was intercepted, a reservoir with an area of more than 130 square kilometers could be formed, with 5.7 billion cubic meters of water and irrigating more than 15 million acres of farmland. The construction of the hub project started in September 1958. The first hydropower station generated electricity in 1969. The Liujiaxia Hydropower Station was completed at the end of 1974. It mainly focuses on power generation and has comprehensive benefits such as flood control, irrigation, ice prevention, and breeding. The barrage (main dam) is 147 meters high, causing a 100-meter drop in the Yellow River flow.
