On this day, 147 years ago, January 27, 1878 (December 25, 1877 in the lunar calendar), Tao Chengzhang, a member of the Restoration Association, was born. Tao Chengzhang Tao Chengzhang (1878.1.27-1912.1.14), also known as Huanqing, was born in Taoyan, Kuaiji, Qing Dynasty (now Taoyan, from Shaoxing County). He was a famous democratic revolutionary activist and a leader of the bourgeois revolutionary faction during the Revolution of 1911 in China. In the 20th year of Guangxu (1894), the Sino-Japanese War was defeated, and the anti-Qing revolution was born. Twenty-eight years east to Japan, Chengcheng School to learn the army. The following year, he returned home and went to various parts of Zhejiang to contact the party. He returned to China in January 1904 and engaged in revolutionary activities in Zhejiang. In October of the same year, he organized the Restoration Association in Shanghai with Gong Baoquan, Cai Yuanpei, Zhang Taiyan, etc., and elected Cai Yuanpei as president. In January 1907, Tao Chengzhang participated in the China Alliance in Tokyo, Japan, and served as the president of the Zhejiang Branch. He returned to China in 1908, taught at Wuhu Middle School, contacted the Anhu-Zhejiang Uprising, and fled Japan after failing. He also went to Myanmar to serve as the chief writer of Guanghua Daily. Tao Chengzhang is narrow-minded and cannot tolerate others. In order to raise money from overseas Chinese in Nanyang, Sun Yat-sen was asked to send a letter introducing him. Sun did not agree. He asked the League General Assembly to remove Sun Yat-sen from his post as prime minister, but failed. In February 1910 (January of the second year of Xuantong), the Restoration Association was rebuilt in Japan, with Tao serving as vice president. The members are mostly people in the league who are dissatisfied with Sun Yat-sen. At this time, Tao's political proposition was to "specialize in individual movements", especially engaging in assassination activities. In the third year of Xuantong (1911), the Wuchang Uprising and Hangzhou was restored. He was elected to the General Senate of the Zhejiang Military Government and participated in the battle of the Jiangsu and Zhejiang allied forces to capture Nanjing. In the first year of the Republic of China (1912), he was assassinated by Chen Qimei in Shanghai Guangci Hospital. His life works include "Tao Chengzhang Ji".
