Dong Biwu On March 5, 1886, Dong Biwu, formerly known as Dong Xiancong, also known as Dong Yongwei, with the word Jieshe, and the name Biwu. He was born in Huang'an (now Hong'an), Hubei Province. In 1903, he was admitted to the Hubei "Wen Ordinary" school. He graduated in 1910 and was awarded the title of tugong by the Qing Dynasty School. He later served as a teacher in Huangzhou. In 1918, he returned to China and participated in the law protection movement. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, he successively served as Director of the Central Financial and Economic Commission, Vice Premier of the Administrative Affairs Council, Director of the Political and Legal Committee of the Administrative Affairs Council, President of the Supreme People's Court, Vice Chairperson of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, Secretary of the Central Supervision Commission of the Communist Party of China, Vice Chairperson and Acting Chairperson of the People's Republic of China. He has served as Vice Chairperson of the Standing Committee of the Fourth National People's Congress since January 1975.
