Mortier's full name was Edouard Adolf Casimir Joseph Mortier and participated in the French Revolution. Promoted to general in 1799. In 1803, he occupied Hanover and was named one of the 18th Marshals by Napoleon. In 1805, he was defeated by the Russian army in Austria. From 1806 to 1807, he participated in the Prussian Campaign and the Peninsula War. Defeated 60,000 Spanish troops in Ocaña. Prime Minister from 1834 to 1835. Killed while accompanying King Louis Philippe on a military parade.
