Thirty-one years ago today, on April 11, 1994 (March 1, 1994 in the lunar calendar), the Clintons paid back their taxes. On April 11, 1994, President Clinton and his wife, Hillary, paid $14,615 in back taxes and interest to the US Treasury and the state of Arkansas. According to David Kendall, Clinton's personal lawyer, a review of the files revealed that the Clintons did not declare $6,498 in income from Hillary Clinton's business in 1980. The Clintons did not know how the mistake came to be, but said they were responsible. The undeclared income was then subject to $3,315 in federal taxes and $514 in state taxes, and interest on those two taxes had accumulated over 14 years to $10,134 and $652, respectively.
