On January 14, 1224, Wanyan Xun, the eighth emperor of the Jin Dynasty and Emperor Xuanzong of the Jin Dynasty, died.
Wanyan Xun of Emperor Xuanzong of the Jin Dynasty (1163-January 14, 1224) was originally named Wu Jianbu, also known as Congjia. The eldest grandson of Wanyan Yong of Jin Shizong, the eldest son of Wanyan Yungong of Jin Xianzong, and the half-brother of Wanyan Jing of Jin Zhangzong, whose mother was Zhaohua Liu. Eighth emperor of the Jin Dynasty. He reigned for eleven years.
Wanyan Xun was born in the third year of Dading (1163) of Jin Shizong. After his birth, he was raised in the palace by his grandfather Jin Shizong. In the 18th year of Dading (1178), he was granted the title of Duke Wen of Wen, and served successively as the Three Departments of Special Advancement, Kaifu Yitong, and the Ministry of Civil Affairs. He was successively granted the title of King Yi and King Xing. In the fifth year of Zhang Zong Taihe (1205), he changed his name to Wanyan Congjia. After Wanyan Congjia's uncle Wanyan Yongji, King of Wei Shao, was killed by the powerful minister Hu Shahu, he welcomed Wanyan Congjia as emperor. The name was changed to Wanyan Xun, which was Xuanzong, and it was changed to Yuan Zhenyou in the same year. In October of that year, Marshal Shu Hu Gao Qi, the supervisor of the army, killed Hu Shahu. Xuanzong issued an edict to pardon him. In the autumn, the Mongolian army broke through almost most of the prefectures and counties in Hebei.
In March of the second year of Zhenyou (1214), Mengjin Harmony was completed, and then Jin Xuanzong moved south to Bianjing, which angered Mongolia and the war resumed. On the second day of May in the third year of Zhenyou (May 31, 1215), Zhongdu fell, and in October, Pu Xian Wannu became independent in Liaodong. In December of the third year of Xingding (early 1220), Xuanzong killed the tiger Gao Qi.
Xuanzong's foreign measures were very inappropriate, which directly led to the demise of the Jin Dynasty. He first begged Genghis Khan for humiliation and peace, and then broke off diplomatic relations with the Western Xia Dynasty. Despite the opposition of his ministers Tushan Yi and others, he moved the capital south from Zhongdu to Bianjing, and launched the war of invading the Song Dynasty. The Jin Dynasty was attacked on three sides, coupled with internal discord, and rebellion occurred frequently, and the country was in danger.
On December 22, the second year of Yuan Guang (January 14, 1224), Xuanzong completed his life in internal and external difficulties. He died of illness in Kaifeng Mansion, Nanjing, at the age of 61. The temple name was Xuanzong, and the posthumous name was following Tianxing Tongshu Daoqin Renying Wu Shengxiao Emperor. Buried in Deling.
evaluation
"History of the Jin Dynasty": Xuanzong was at the end of the Jin Dynasty. Although he lacked the resources to rectify chaos, he had the ambition to work hard to govern the country. It is because he is diligent in government and cares about the people, and his career of rejuvenation is promising, but what is it that he has not succeeded in the end? The reason is that Liang is based on suspicion, values trust and governance, rewards and uses officials, and is harsh and harsh, and the reason is that he does not handle things properly. How can I be the one to discuss the evil deeds of Zhongyuan? However, I have the selfish intention of supporting the establishment and eliminating the distinction of being honest and upright, which is very contrary to etiquette. Although Gao Qi killed and imprisoned people, although he claimed to eliminate evil, he followed the law of the Spring and Autumn Annals, how could he escape the responsibility of Zhao Yang and Jinyang? If you can't commit a crime, you will be punished, and you will be punished again. After moving to Bianzhou, the Dynasty that looked north to Dayuan became increasingly prosperous. Who of wisdom didn't predict it? Fang Fang was addicted to residual power and restrained the group's discussions. He opened the Song Dynasty to the south and incited the Xia Dynasty to the west. Since the troops were divided, the achievements could not make up for the trouble. In the past few years, the country was invaded hundreds of miles a day, but now the country is being squeezed every day. Can we help it? Wouldn't it be regrettable to move again and lead to the loss of the country?
Liu Qi: Xuanzong was in the hands of thieves. He was originally weak and incompetent. He was very suspicious by nature. He punished the disaster of powerful ministers and was always afraid of being swayed by others. Therefore, if the ministers and generals were guilty, they would be eliminated. It can be said that it was a mistake to move the capital to Daliang. If you want to be envoys to guard Guanzhong for generations, you can still live for generations. Moreover, after crossing south, you cannot deliberately work hard like Gou Jian, the King of Yue, to repay Kuaiji's shame, but just survive peacefully to prolong the years. After Gao Qi came to power, he promoted petty officials, but he could not restrain literati and bureaucrats. His laws were weak, and he could not go far and far. Those who are ministers in power do not forget to sacrifice their own lives to the country. Even if they are, they are not allowed to gallop. He also favored the clans and alienated the Han people from outside. His secret plans were not allowed to interfere even with the Han ministers. The monarch and the public govern the world, and the difference between them is such, and it is difficult to hope that the people will do their best. Therefore, those on the road only know how to cater to their intentions and keep their books carefully. As a general, he only knows how to flatter his close attendant to steal the honor and favor, and has no intention of dying. Fortunately, ministers and relatives all held important positions at a time. Anyone who dared to speak or act was sent to the scattered places. This is the reason why Qitianxing died.
Key words: January 14, 1224, Wanyan Xun, Jin Xuanzong, Emperor
