Today, 101 years ago, on 25 January 1924 (Calendar 20 December 1923), the first Olympic Winter Games opened. The French Shamonian Winter Olympics took place on 25 January 1924. The three-gold medal winner Norwegian Taulef-Hogh became the hero at the first Winter Olympics held in Shamoni in France. Many other projects were monopolized by the Scandinavians. Charlie-Jetrow won a gold medal for the United States in a 1500-metre speed skating competition. Some modern Olympics have included winter competitions, but this is the first time that the Winter Olympics were held alone. The one-year winter competition held in Shamonian has been officially referred to as the Winter Olympics.
