Deng said: "Our party educated an entire generation with Mao Zedong Thought, which enabled us to win the revolutionary war and establish the People's Republic of China." Deng Xiaoping said: "The Cultural Revolution was indeed a big mistake. When we talk about bringing order out of chaos, we mean putting an end to the chaos of Lin Biao and the Gang of Four, criticizing the mistakes of Comrade Mao Zedong in his later years and returning to the correct course of Mao Zedong Thought. We must unequivocally criticize Comrade Mao Zedong for his mistakes, but we must seek truth from facts and analyse the different situations; we must not attribute everything to personal qualities. Comrade Mao Zedong was not an isolated individual; he was the leader of our Party until his death. We must not overstate comrade mao zedong's mistakes.
