Henry V succeeded to the throne of England

Henry V (August 9 or September 16, 1387-August 31, 1422) King of Lancaster of England (reigned 1413 - 1422). During his brief nine-year rule, he achieved military glory unseen by any English king in the Middle Ages.

Henry V was the son of Mary de Burnham, King Henry IV of England. He was born in Monmouth (Wales). At the time of his birth, his father was only the Earl of Derby. During the exile of the Earl of Derby, Henry was adopted by King Richard II and received a good education. The Earl of Derby usurped the throne, that is, made Henry Prince of Wales. On March 20, 1413, Henry V was crowned King of England.

Henry V reignited the Hundred Years' War and invaded France in 1415. He first captured Heffler, then advanced on the coastal town of Calais. The battle of Agencourt (1415) nearly destroyed the fighting spirit of the French with fewer victories. The British army continued to win, conquering Normandy in 1419, and then the first town in northern France, Rouen, surrendered.

In 1420, Henry V forced Charles VI to sign the Treaty of Troyes. The treaty was an incredibly huge victory for England: the treaty stipulated that Henry V would marry Charles VI's daughter Catherine of Valois (pronounced Caterine in French), and that after Charles VI's death, his French throne would be inherited by Henry V (depriving the Crown Prince of France of his inheritance rights to the Charles). Henry V effectively became the regent of France.

In 1422, during a battle near Vincennes, typhus claimed the young life of Henry V.

Key words: 20 March 1413, Henry V, England
