On January 5, 2007 (November 17, 2006 in the lunar calendar), the J-10 fighter jet made its debut. China Aviation Industry Corporation I (hereinafter referred to as China Aviation I) held a press conference at the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse in Beijing on January 5 to officially disclose to the outside world a batch of high-tech aviation weapons and equipment represented by J-10 fighters and Taihang engines. In January 1986, the State Council and the Central Military Commission jointly issued a document approving the project development of the J-10. Song Wencong, then 56 years old, took the lead as the chief designer of the J-10. The J-10 fighter jet is a third-generation fighter jet independently developed by China Aviation I with completely independent intellectual property rights. It adopts a large number of new technologies and processes, creating the Republic's aviation ranks first in history. The machine is divided into two models: single-seat and double-seat, and has a wide range of uses. Our Air Force test pilots have undertaken dozens of extreme test flight missions, and the test flight has set a record for the fastest flying speed of a domestic aircraft in the atmosphere-exceeding the speed of 1300 kilometers per hour in the atmosphere of the rocket carrying Shenzhou-6. The J-10 also achieved air launch and air docking refueling. Experts pointed out that the successful development of the J-10 series aircraft marks a historic leap from the second generation to the third generation of my country's military aircraft. At the same time, a new generation of air-to-air missiles has been successfully developed and equipped with troops, realizing the leap from the third generation to the fourth generation of my country's air-to-air missiles.
