Swedish naturalist Genai died

Linne (1707 - 1778) was a Swedish biologist and naturalist. Born in Smoran Province in southern Sweden, he received a medical doctor's degree from Hardwick University in the Netherlands in July 1735. In 1738, he served as professor of anatomy, botany, pharmacology, and natural history at Uppsala University, and rebuilt the school's Botanical Garden, where 1600 species of plants were cultivated. He retired in 1761 and was promoted to aristocracy. He died on January 10, 1778 in Ubud Sala due to a stroke at the age of 71.

Linnaeus was engaged in extensive scientific research throughout his life. He did a lot of research on plant taxonomy, zoology, entomology, medicine and mineralogy. He collected 14000 plant specimens and 7000 insect specimens throughout his life. Many animals and plants were named by Linnaeus for the first time. He divided plants into 24 classes based on the characteristics of stamen and pistil types, size, number, and arrangement of flowers, and established an artificial classification system, namely the Linnaean system. His most outstanding contribution in biological taxonomy is the improvement and implementation of the double name naming system, unifying the names of plants that were chaotic in the past. In his book "Plant Species", the double name naming system was officially used for the first time., naming 7300 species of plants and 4235 species of animals in the 10th edition of Nature System. Linnaeus published 180 books in his life, which had a great influence on future generations. In order to commemorate Linnaean's great contribution to biology, 10 years after his death, the Linnaean Society of London was established in the UK. Many well-known scholars are proud to be members of the Linnaean Society.
