Thirty years ago today, on February 28, 1995 (January 29, 1995 lunar calendar), the "Happiness Project - Action to Aid Poor Mothers" was officially launched. In February 1995, the "Happiness Project - Action to Aid Poor Mothers" was jointly initiated by the China Population public welfare fund, the China Family Planning Association and the China Population Newspaper. The director of the project organizing committee was Wang Guangmei, the promoter. Its purpose is: to mobilize funds and strength from all walks of life at home and abroad, to adopt a small amount of funding, direct to people, rolling operation, labor poverty reduction assistance model, to help poor mothers with family planning to cure poverty, cure foolishness, and cure diseases, to achieve less births, postnatal care, poverty reduction and wealth, and to establish a civilized and happy family. Over the past 11 years, the "Happiness Project - Action to Aid Poor Mothers" has set up 389 project points across the country, investing a total of 310 million yuan to help poor mothers and families 154,000 households, benefiting population 695,000. Wang Guangmei won the "China Population Award" honorary award.
