In the same year, she collaborated with the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra and performed Mozart's Piano Concerto in D minor for the first time, which won a high reputation. In 1954, she graduated from a female high school and was admitted to the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra as a soloist. She held her first solo concert in Shanghai on February 26, 1955, which was a great success. In 1956, she entered the Tianjin Central Conservatory of Music for further study, and then went to Moscow to study. In the mid-1950s, her father and patriotic general Gu Gaotai was implicated in the "Pan Hannian injustice" and was sentenced to life imprisonment. Gu Shengying was still in adversity and went to Moscow in 1957 to participate in the piano competition of the 6th World Youth Festival and In October 1958, she participated in the 14th International Music Competition in Geneva and won the highest prize in the Women's Piano Competition, which made her famous in the world music scene. In March 1960, she participated in the 6th Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw and received high praise. In the same year, she received an honorary graduation certificate from the Central Conservatory of Music. After many consecutive years, she was named as the outstanding youth of Shanghai, the bearer of the March 8th Red Banner, and the outstanding member of the Cultural Affairs Bureau. In April 1964, she participated in the Belgian International Piano Competition and won the grand prize again. Later, she represented China to perform in the Netherlands and Finland. She suffered cruel persecution during the "Cultural Revolution" and passed away unjustly on January 31, 1967, at the age of 30.
