On June 1, 2009 (May 9, 2009), the Food Safety Law of the People's Republic of China came into effect, and the Health Law was repealed. The Food Safety Law of the People's Republic of China was passed by the Seventh Session of the Standing Committee of the Eleventh National People's Congress on February 28, 2009, and came into force on June 1, 2009. The Food Health Law of the People's Republic of China was repealed at the same time.
