On this day, 145 years ago, on May 9, 1880 (April 1, 1880 in the lunar calendar), the famous Canadian journalist Brown was killed. Brown was born on November 29, 1818. He moved to New York City from England in 1837 and moved to Toronto in 1843 to founded the Standard. The following year, the Globe was published. He was elected to the Canadian Parliament in 1857 to re-establish the Liberal Party of the Western District of Canada and became Prime Minister the following year. In December 1865, he resigned from the government due to his opposition to the Canada-US Mutual Benefit Treaty. He joined the Senate in 1873 and participated in the negotiation of the Canada-US New Reciprocal Treaty the following year. Since then, I concentrated on running the Globe.
