In the third year (1192), he officially became the general of Seimei. After that, a samurai regime was established under the imperial court. This regime is known as the Kamakura shogunate by historians. The establishment of the Kamakura shogunate marked the beginning of Japan's 680-year-old shogunate, which ended after Emperor Meiji decreed the reversion of the imperial government in 1868.
