On March 2, 1946, Ho Chi Minh was elected President of North Vietnam
On this day, 79 years ago, March 2, 1946 (January 29, 1946 in the lunar calendar), Ho Chi Minh was elected President of North Vietnam. Ho Chi Minh (1890-1969) was originally known as Nguyen Ph Thanh, and changed his name to Nguyen Aiguo after participating in the revolution. He was born in his grandfather's home in Huang Chou Village, Nan Tan County, Nghe An Province, central Vietnam, and grew up in his father's home in Jinlian Village. Ho Chi Minh was elected President of the North Vietnamese State on March 2, 1946.
