Originally known as Dingyi Fukuda, he was born in Osaka on August 7, 1923. He graduated from the Mongolian Department of Osaka Foreign Languages College in 1943. He joined the New Japan Shimbun in Kyoto in 1946. Two years later, he served as a reporter for the Sankei Shimbun and published works at the same time.
