On this day, 41 years ago, on January 24, 1984 (December 22, 1983 in the lunar calendar), the China Theater was completed. On January 24, 1984, the China Theater was located near Wanshou Temple in the western suburbs of Beijing, the capital. It was my country's first modern large-scale song and dance theater. It was built to commemorate the 90th anniversary of Comrade Mao Zedong's birth and the 35th anniversary of the National Day and perform a large-scale music and dance epic "Song of the Chinese Revolution". This three-story frame structure building is 22.9 meters high above the ground. It has an "I" shape and is white throughout. People praise the building itself as a complete work of art. China Theater has a total construction area of 11340 square meters and consists of an auditorium, stage, dressing room, rehearsal hall, VIP room, recording studio, scene painting room and some ancillary facilities. The auditorium is 14.1 meters high and covers an area of 9000 square meters. It is divided into two floors, upper and lower, with a total of 1758 seats. Backstage is a three-story makeup building with an area of 905 square meters, with more than 20 dressing rooms of different sizes. The basement has a band lounge and actors lounge. The theater stage has a relatively high level of automation and mechanization. The stage area is more than 600 square meters and is divided into five lifting stages. The middle two can be lifted and lowered by plus or minus 2.5 meters in double layers. There are five rotating stages with a diameter of 1.2 meters on them. There are 6 parallel push-pull carriages on both sides, which can quickly change scenes and actors. The orchestra pool in front of the stage can also be lifted and lowered, which can not only extend and enlarge the stage, but also make it convenient for the band to come out to make a curtain call. This large stage can accommodate more than 1000 actors and staff to perform on the same stage. Above the stage, light bridges, hanging cages, suspenders, etc. are as dense as a spider's web. There are 574 lights used on the stage alone, of which 268 lights have automatic color changing devices, changing the old method of using artificially covered colored cellophane to change the color of the light. In accordance with the principle of architectural sound system, the theater reflects from the ceiling and walls, so that every audience can hear clearly and sweetly without sound amplifying equipment. In addition, the theater is also equipped with a high-quality stereo system, with dozens of speakers placed around the theater. The sound effects during the performance make the audience feel as if they were immersed in the scene. The stage lifting, rotation, lighting, electro-acoustic and other equipment in the theater are all controlled by computers. In the middle of the east wall of the west hall of China Theater, there is a bluish-white stone line carving mural-"National Unity" that is very eye-catching. The lines of people dancing in various dances on the mural are clear and lifelike. All ethnic minorities with a population of more than 1 million have their singing and dancing images in this painting.
