On May 1, 1920, workers from Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Jiujiang, Tangshan and other industrial cities marched to the markets and held massive demonstrations and rallies. Li Dazhao specifically published "A History of the May Day Movement" in "New Youth", introducing the origin of the May Day Festival and the activities of workers in the United States, France and other countries to commemorate May Day, and calling on China workers to use this year's May Day as the date of awakening. Chen Duxiu also published an article "Hunan Female Workers 'Problems in Shanghai Housheng Yarn Factory" to celebrate this festival, exposing the truth about capitalists exploiting workers' surplus value. Chen Duxiu also delivered a speech entitled "The Awareness of the Working People" at the Shanghai Shipping and Housing Industry Federation, clarifying that "labor creates the world." The view that "those who work are the most useful and valuable". In Beijing, some young people went out to publicize and distribute the "Labor Declaration of May 1" to arouse workers to fight against exploitation and fight for their own rights. This is the first time that China commemorates the May Day International Labor Day, and it is also the first May Day Labor Day in the history of China.
