156 years ago today, January 12, 1869 (November 30, 1868, the lunar calendar), Zhang Taiyan's birthday. Zhang Taiyan (1869-1936) was originally named Xuecheng, with the word Meishu, later renamed Jiang, with the name Taiyan, and later renamed Binglin. He was born in Yuhang, Zhejiang. He was born in a family that had been educated for generations and then defeated. He experienced two historical periods in his life: the Reform Movement of 1898 and the bourgeois democratic revolution. He went through a tortuous path and was an outstanding bourgeois revolutionary and famous scholar in modern China. Mr. Lu Xun once highly praised his heroic spirit of being unafraid of death, which "once a hero is imprisoned, the world will also lament for autumn" and his heroic spirit of "being hunted down seven times and sent to prison three times, but the revolutionary will never bow", and praised it as "The regular model of a younger generation".(See "On Mr. Tai Yan","Complete Works of Lu Xun", Volume 6) After the Revolution of 1911, he retired to study, studied knowledge, and became a Confucian sect of a generation. Academically, he has a wide range of subjects, including Confucian classics, philosophy, literature, linguistics, philology, phonology, logic and other aspects. He has written a lot in his life, and his words are more difficult to understand. The main works were compiled into the "Zhang's Series","Continuation of the Zhang's Series" and "The Third Series of the Zhang's Series" by later generations. Since 1982, the Shanghai People's Publishing House has successively published the "Complete Works of Zhang Taiyan", which has a rich collection and is known as the Encyclopedia of China Culture.
