The conference elected Liu Shaoqi as President, Song Qingling and Dong Biwu as vice chairpeople, Zhu De as chairperson of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, and Zhou Enlai as Premier of the State Council. The CPPCC elected Mao Zedong as honorary chairperson, Zhou Enlai as chairperson, and Peng Zhen and other 22 as vice chairpeople.
