On this day 39 years ago, on January 15, 1986 (December 6, 1985 lunar calendar), the National Defense University of the Chinese People's Liberation Army was established. Yang Shangkun awarded the flag to Zhang Zhen On January 15, 1986, the Military College, Logistics College and Political College merged to establish the National Defense University of the Chinese People's Liberation Army. On November 30, 1985, Chairperson of the Central Military Commission Deng Xiaoping issued an order appointing Zhang Zhen as the president of the National Defense University of the Chinese People's Liberation Army and Li Desheng as a political commissar. On January 15, the National Defense University of the Chinese People's Liberation Army was established and the flag-awarding conference was held in Beijing. National Defense University is the highest military institution in our country. Its task is to train senior cadres of our army and recruit leading cadres from relevant government departments to jointly discuss relevant issues in national defense construction. The National Defense University officially opened in 1986.
