Breaking-News >> TodayHistory October 5, 1904 The birthday of the famous painter Fu Baoshi
121 years ago today, on October 5, 1904 (August 26, 1904 lunar calendar), the famous painter Fu Baoshi was born. On October 5, 1904, Fu Baoshi was born in the family of a fan repairman in Nanchang, Jiangxi. In 1921, he was promoted to the provincial first normal school without the first exam. At that time, he began to read some ancient painting history and painting theories in his spare time, especially when he saw Shi Tao's "I use my method". He appreciated Shi Tao's thought of "searching all the strange peaks and making drafts". In March 1933, Fu Baoshi traveled east to Japan and entered the Imperial Academy of Fine Arts in Tokyo, where he studied under the art historian Jinyuan Province Wu. In May 1935, "Fu Baoshi's Exhibition of Chinese Paintings" was held in Tokyo. Dean Masaki Naohiko and painter Hengshan Grand View visited the exhibition. In June 1936, Fu Baoshi returned to China due to his mother's illness. In July, he held a solo exhibition in Nanchang, which was his first solo exhibition in China. After the summer vacation, he was hired by Xu Beihong to teach at the Art Department of Nanjing Central University. After the outbreak of the Anti-Japanese War in 1937, he returned to his hometown in Xinyu with his family. In April 1938, he was invited by Guo Moruo to Wuhan to participate in the work of the three halls. After that, he moved to Chongqing, and since then entered a peak period of his artistic creation. His family lived in the King Kong Slope of Shapingba, and after that he often painted with the inscription "King Kong Slope Xiazhai". He painted "Painting Yuntai Mountain Picture Scroll", compiled "Chronology of Master Shi Tao", and created "Portrait on Shi Tao" and "Dadi Sketch" at the same time, all of which reflect the relationship between Fu Baoshi's artistic creation and historical research, as well as his artistic origin. For more than six years after 1939, Fu Baoshi entered the peak period of his historical research on the one hand, and on the other hand completed his transition from seal carving and historical research to painting. In October 1942, "Professor Fu Baoshi's Painting Exhibition" was held in Chongqing. In September 1944, Fu Baoshi created the famous work "Beautiful People's Journey" on the title of Du Fu's Le Fu poem "Beauty's Journey" (sold by Guardian International Auction Company for 10.78 million yuan in 1997). Later, Xu Beihong praised his paintings: "This is the great symphony of sound, color and soul", and asked: "Mr. Baoshi's recent works are more and more unrestrained, and the scenery is vast. The character is Ewing Richard. The so-called perfect person is not right?" After the victory of the Anti-Japanese War, he and his family moved back to Nanjing with the school. In October 1947, the "Professor Fu Baoshi Painting Exhibition" was held in Shanghai. Guo Moruo used "immersion and rich" to evaluate the exhibition. However, by this time, the Nanjing of the Kuomintang government was already in a state of panic. Fu Baoshi took the opportunity to evacuate the population and left Nanjing with his family and returned to Nanchang. After the founding of New China, modern Chinese history entered a new era. Fu Baoshi began to welcome a new life full of hope. After witnessing the changes in New China and facing the direction of literature and art as workers, peasants and soldiers, Fu Baoshi began to study Mao Zedong's poetry, using his usual method of expressing literary works to move the exciting chapters of Mao Zedong's poetry into his own picture. He created "Seven Laws · Long March Poetry", "Qinyuan Spring · Snow", "Qingping Le · Liupanshan Poetry Meaning", and participated in the "Nanjing First Art Exhibition". His works pioneered the creation of Mao Zedong's poetic paintings, which later became an important aspect of "new landscape painting", and also made contributions in the history of modern art, which can be said to exceed his previous contributions. In May 1957, Fu Baoshi, as the head of the first artist delegation in New China, led five members of other painting genres to visit Czechoslovakia and Romania for a friendly visit, and sketched paintings and held art exhibitions. Faced with exotic customs, Fu Baoshi began to think about how to express foreign landscapes with Chinese brush and ink. Strive to create a road that no one has ever traveled before. It can be said that Fu Baoshi was one of the first painters to guide Chinese painting to the world, and strengthened national character, making important contributions to the proposal and solution of this problem in the 20th century. It made a big step forward in the performance of new themes by landscape painting. In February 1957, the Jiangsu Provincial Academy of Chinese Painting was officially established, and Fu Baoshi served as one of the heads of the preparatory committee. In June 1959, Fu Baoshi was invited by Hunan People's Publishing House to become the first painter to come to Shaoshan, the hometown of Chairperson Mao Zedong, to sketch. In 9 days, Fu Baoshi completed "Shaoshan Group Painting" and "Shaoshan Panorama". This opened up an idea for many painters at that time to explore new themes. Two months later, Fu Baoshi came to Beijing again and together with Guan Shanyue created the famous work "Jiangshan is so delicate" for the Great Hall of the People. From Shaoshan to Beijing is an important journey in Fu Baoshi's artistic life. Fu Baoshi, as the president of the Jiangsu Academy of Chinese Painting, led the "Jiangsu Chinese Painting Work Group" to travel 23,000 miles in September 1960 to sketch, which promoted the development of new landscape painting in the mid-20th century, and pushed the movement of traditional Chinese painting to bring out new ones that began in the early 1950s to a historical climax. Later, Fu Baoshi's social themes represented by "Coal City Spectacular" and his efforts in integrating landscape with industrial themes have clearly demonstrated a development law in line with the trend of the times of modern landscape painting; the natural themes represented by "Mirror Flying Spring" are the shock and reflection of northern landscapes in Fu Baoshi's mind.
