The Double Helix Structure of DNA On April 25, 1953, in an article published in the journal Nature, Dr. James Watson and Dr. Francis Crick proposed a new structure of DNA. DNA is the basic molecular structure of heredity. This article refutes Linus Pauling's view. Pauling believed that DNA is a (alpha coefficient) helix. Watson and Crick proposed that this genetic material is a double helix structure pattern, that is, two helical strands consisting of complementary chemical base pairs. This allows people to imagine how genes replicate and carry information.
