On this day 62 years ago, on March 5, 1963 (February 10, 1963 lunar calendar), Mao Zedong inscribed "Learn from Comrade Lei Feng". General Chen Xilian gave Mao Zedong's inscription to Lei Feng's army before his death. On March 5, 1963, the People's Daily published Mao Zedong's inscription: "Learn from Comrade Lei Feng". Since then, the whole country has carried out activities to learn from Lei Feng. Lei Feng is the squad leader of a certain department of the Shenyang Army Engineering Corps of the People's Liberation Army. Born in December 1939 in a poor peasant family in Wangcheng County (now Changsha County), Hunan Province, he became an orphan since childhood. He joined the Communist Youth League in 1957. He joined the army in 1960, joined the party in November of the same year, and soon became the squad leader. He trained his military skills hard, actively studied Mao Zedong's works, and served the people wholeheartedly. On August 15, 1962, Lei Feng unfortunately died in the line of duty. On January 7, 1963, the Ministry of National Defense approved the award of Lei Feng's fourth class as the "Lei Feng Class".
