On this day 57 years ago, on February 26, 1968 (January 28, 1968 lunar calendar), a military rebellion was quelled after the independence of the Republic of Yemen. On February 26, 1968, three months after the Republic of Yemen gained independence from British rule, a military mutiny took place.
