Seventy-six years ago today, on January 19th, 1949 (December 21st, 1948 in the lunar calendar), Russian writer Suirafimovich died. Suirafimovich, like Suirafimovich, was born on January 7, 1863 in a Cossack military family in Nizhny Kurmoyarsk, Don Prefecture. Exiled in 1877 for drafting a declaration against the Tsar. In the meantime, he began his literary creation activities. The first collection of short stories was published in 1901. In 1902, he joined the "Wednesday" literary society and soon became a contributor to the "Knowledge" series supported by Gorky. In 1905, he wrote many features and short stories such as Funeral Song, Corpse in the Street, Bomb, etc., which timely reflected the heroic struggle of workers and the awakening of ordinary workers, and accused the Tsar of bloody suppression of the people. When the October Revolution broke out in 1917, he joined the Communist Party and has been a correspondent for Pravda and Izvestia. He published a number of novels, such as The City on the Steppe (1912), Iron Stream (1924), The Land of the Kolkhoz (1993, 1938), etc. Among them, Iron Stream is recognized as one of the outstanding works of early Soviet socialist literature. He received the Stalin Prize in 1943. Died in Moscow on January 19, 1949.
