On April 30, 1984, Professor Hua Luogeng, a famous mathematician in our country, officially accepted the title of foreign academician awarded by the National Academy of Sciences in the United States. The awarding ceremony was held at the main building of the National Academy of Sciences. Professor Hua Luogeng was elected as a foreign academician of the National Academy of Sciences in 1982. He is the first China scientist to receive this honorary title in the 120-year history of the National Academy of Sciences. Frank Place, President of the National Academy of Sciences, praised Professor Hua Luogeng for his outstanding contributions in the field of mathematics at the ceremony.
